Description
Chania is one of the most beautiful and picturesque cities in Greece, located on the northwest coast of the Greek island of Crete. It’s known for its 14th-century Venetian harbor, narrow streets and waterfront restaurants. At the harbor entrance is a 16th-century lighthouse with Venetian, Egyptian and Ottoman influences. Old Town, where we’ll be staying is colorful and lively. And for food lovers, it’s paradise!
Not far from Old Town is Souda Bay, where the local rowing club is located.
We will take the 15min drive from Old Town Chania to the boathouse every morning of our stay there.
Boat selection is based on preferences and skill levels. This trip is open to intermediate and advanced rowers. Coaching is provided by iROW Tours founder and rowing coach Iva Boteva. We will row every morning except for Arrival Day, Oct 6, and Departure Day, Oct 12.
On some of the afternoons you can rest or explore on your own and on others we will have guided tours scheduled or other non-rowing activities.
These will include a guided tour Old Town of Chania, which is divided into 3 major districts, where once Christians, Muslims and Jews lived through history. While walking through the local markets to learn about different Cretan products and enjoy some wine and olive oil tasting.
Speaking of local flavors, we will also visit a nearby village for a cooking class and dinner an 18th century farmhouse, away from any touristic activity we will simply enjoy an afternoon of learning a little bit about Cretan cuisine, experiment with local flavors ad enjoy the fruits of our creativity with local wine and bread for dinner. Greek music and chat around an old monastery table…it will be incredible!
Our final activity is an excursion at sea on a beautiful catamaran, an easy afternoon to relax, swim, enjoy the scenery and some good company and luxuriate in our freedom…
Getting lost in some spectacular and awe-inspiring seascapes, hosting a palette of ever-changing blues is a must! And maybe we’ll skip rowing that day and make a full day out of it instead of just the afternoon …TBD ;)

All you need to purchase is your airfare and travel insurance.
The max capacity is for 10 rowers, and your non-rowing friends are welcome to join us. We need a minimum of 5 people to sign up for this tour by June 1, 2025 in order to proceed with it. To sign up, you’ll need to fill a couple of forms and place a $1500 non-refundable security deposit. This reserves your spot in the tour. The remaining amount is due July 1, 2025 and then you can start packing
