Our rowing tour in Marmande, France is a real treat!
We row in a gorgeous rowing canal and stay in a nearby historic French Chateau! It is our first organized tour
in the area, following the test visit in May 2023. Marmande is a small town in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France, and it is where the rowing club that will host our group is located. Canal De Garonne, where our rowing practices takes place is calm and beautiful. There are paths on both sides of the canal where one could go for a walk or a bike ride (perfect for non-rowing participants). We will row in the mornings (total of 5 rows) for about an hour each.
Chateau Marcellus is a remarkable place where we will have the pleasure of staying. Built between 1773 and 1775 in the neo-classic architecture style, it features a large collection of antiques, sculptures and architectural pieces from the 16th to the 19th century displayed inside the Chateau and in the surrounding gardens. You will surely feel transported to another era while staying there.
The Chateau offers 4 guest rooms/suites varying in size and design, all spacious, beautiful and abundant in natural light. A week will not be enough for you to explore all the incredible antique and pieces of art carefully curated by Catherine and Samuel Roger, owners of the Chateau and our gracious hosts. They have taken on this grand project of restoring the Chateau to its authentic 18th century glory and honoring the property’s past.
Our afternoon activities include a visit and walking tour in Bordeaux! Known for its architecture, incredible restaurants, and proximity to great wine, it makes for a wonderful stop while visiting France. Another afternoon excursion will be to Saint Emilion, a small village with incredible charm and UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999 for its cultural landscapes.

Take advantage of your visit to admire its landscapes, understand their history as well as those of the castles that surround the medieval city during a walk in the company of a guide in love with this territory. Two unique wine tasting experiences are included during this tour.

The max capacity is for 8 rowers, and your non rowing friends are welcome to join us. To sign up, please send a $1500 nonrefundable security deposit and complete the required forms. This reserves your spot in the tour. The remaining amount is due on Jan 15, 2024. Minimum of 6 people need to be signed up by December 1, 2023 in order for this trip to proceed as planned.
